Emperor's Wok, Hilton Colombo, Sri Lanka: Setting the scene with Qbus automation

The design vision for Emperor's Wok demanded far more than functional lighting. The goal was to create an experience—one that mirrored and amplified the restaurant's refined character.

That meant flexibility above all. The lighting had to control different zones independently, adjust intensity on demand, and respond to the rhythm of service. The client also wanted centralized command through a single touchpad, plus the ability to set distinct scenes and mood lighting at a moment's notice. And every part of it had to disappear seamlessly into the interior: an oasis of calm and elegance in the vibrant heart of Colombo.

To meet these demanding requirements, we partnered with the installers at OREL Corporation (pvt) LTD and the lighting designers at BO STEIBER LIGHTING DESIGN. Together, we deployed a comprehensive Qbus Full installation built around a central controller—the brain of the system. From this single point, the controller manages every Qbus module through a reliable two-wire bus.

The result is a system that delivers real, day-to-day advantages:

• Independent, zonal control: Lighting splits into separate zones, each one dimmed or switched on and off on its own. Staff can fine-tune the mood across different parts of the restaurant and adapt instantly to how full the room is.
• Intuitive touchpad operation: A central touchpad puts the entire installation at the team's fingertips. A few taps adjust the lighting—no complicated procedures, no training headaches.
• Dynamic scenes: Pre-programmed scenes are ready for lunch, dinner, and special events. Each one blends multiple lighting settings to create the perfect look for the occasion.
• Tailored mood lighting: With dimmable fixtures and adjustable color, the ambiance can be tuned precisely to the interior and the feeling the team wants to create.

The Qbus system has produced a stunning outcome at Emperor's Wok. The lighting is no longer just functional—it's an essential part of the guest experience. The ability to match light to mood and moment reinforces the restaurant's exclusive, elegant identity.
