In the highest apartments of the Antwerp Tower, luxury goes hand in hand with smart technology. Each Serenity apartment features a tailor-made control system, fully aligned with the residents’ preferences and the interior design. From automatic sunshades to subtle mirror heating — everything works seamlessly, without drawing attention. No off-the-shelf solutions here, but one smart system with customized applications every time.
In the heart of Antwerp rises the Antwerp Tower: a modernist landmark designed by top architect Wiel Arets, commissioned by developer Matexi. With 26 floors and a height of over 100 metres, it is the city’s tallest residential tower. The top five floors are home to the Serenity apartments: luxurious living spaces with panoramic views, premium finishes, and a refined aesthetic — developed in collaboration with interior studios such as Co.Studio, UAU Collectiv, and Wave. And made smarter, by Qbus.
In these apartments, high above the vibrant city life, technology meets aesthetics. Each living space was deliberately equipped with a smart control system by Qbus. Fully tailored — per apartment, per client. No copy-paste solutions. Just personal choices, perfectly attuned to each resident.
Controlled down to the finest detail
“We wanted each apartment to evolve with the owner’s preferences, not the other way around. Some choose only smart lighting, others want sunshades, mirror heating, and full climate control. Everything had to be possible — and it was,” says Steven Van Herck, Sales Engineer at Qbus. This flexibility quickly became a decisive factor in the project’s success.
From day one, installers received active support. Together with the Qbus team, every living unit was reviewed to determine technical requirements and ensure seamless integration.
In some apartments, the solution remained a sleek basic setup, while others went much further: smart control of electric curtains or bathroom elements such as a mirror that automatically heats during showers to prevent fogging.
Smart, yet subtle
The technology always stays in the background. “Qbus’s greatest strength is that everything just works — without you noticing. The system feels intuitive, adapts to your lifestyle, and never gets in the way,” says Steven Van Herck. Control is via stylish push buttons (such as those from Sumum) or the Qbus Control app. In a specially designed showroom, buyers could experience the look and feel of their control system beforehand, ensuring their choice was perfect both functionally and aesthetically.
The central sunshading is also intelligently managed: on hot days, the screens automatically lower — even when residents are away. This keeps interiors comfortably cool without sacrificing the view, as manual override remains available. “It’s the details that make all the difference. Technology that doesn’t impose, but supports. That’s the kind of intelligence we believe in,” Van Herck explains.
The Serenity apartments are a prime example of how technology can add value to design — and how Qbus surpasses standard solutions. “We delivered one building with dozens of different finishes and scenarios. None of them ever challenged the system’s limits. That’s proof we are the right partner for high-end custom solutions,” Van Herck concludes.
