The Qbus growth story
Qbus offers a growth platform of various products and services to make homes and buildings smart. Customers can start with a basic installation that they can later adjust, expand, and make even smarter based on their needs at that time. A Qbus installation remains compatible with new products and services.
Smart Start
This expandable basic installation consists of smart switching modules, dimmers, motor control, and energy management modules placed in the distribution cabinet, which can be further expanded through future-oriented cabling. These Qbus Stand-Alone modules feature additional functions that immediately add value, such as welcome scenes, all-off buttons, smart control of heat pumps or chargers for electric vehicles based on current electricity consumption/generation, etc. The operation of this basic installation is done with standard push buttons.
Central Control
The addition of a Controller transforms the Qbus system from a Stand-Alone basic installation to a Qbus Full installation where the entire home is managed by that Controller. This provides the home with additional intelligence, such as (astronomical) clocks, moods, presence simulation, HVAC control, logic, etc. It is now also possible to control the home from anywhere in the world via the Qbus Control App—without extra subscription or cost. Smart switches, sensors, displays, etc., can be added to the installation. However, this is not mandatory as the installed hardware (standard push buttons, wiring,…) of the basic installation continues to function seamlessly!
Famous Friends
By adding the Ubiebox, it becomes possible to connect smart devices such as Sonos, ArtSound, Hue lamps, IP cameras, videophones, Alexa, Google Home,... or other systems like KNX, Modbus, Televic,… with Qbus in a plug & play manner. If plug & play connection is not necessary, other devices and systems can also be part of the Qbus ecosystem; both Home Assistant and OpenHab are supported by Qbus.
The image on the left illustrates how the Qbus concept works: from the flexible, future-oriented Stand-Alone base installation to the complete Qbus home automation system and the integration with various other devices via the Qbus Open layer.
