Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you read an existing configuration?

This is a completely different procedure depending on the type of controller.

    • For the CTD controllers this goes as follows:

In the SMIII via "File" or "Utilities / Setup / SD card", click on "Recover QDB from SD".

After confirmation you choose the name and location where the file should be saved. The zipped QDB file is then read from the SD card of the CTD and saved. With a positive answer to the question "Unzip and open restored QDB?", All data will then be immediately available. If the data you were still working on was not sent or saved, you will first receive a notification to do so.

    • For a CTL controller follow the following procedure:

Because this controller does not yet have a large memory, only limited data can be recovered. Ao the names are abbreviated to 12 characters and serial numbers are not stored anywhere.

The first step is therefore to type in ALL serial numbers via SMII via "File / Modules". These 6-digit serial numbers can be found on every module (DIN rail, switch, detector, etc.). For the SWC0x switches, an extra option was provided to have them send their serial number via “Search for modules”.

When you then click on the "down arrow", you can read all this limited information.

  • Always use the latest software for configuration.

It is always recommended to use the most recent version. This version supports the newest modules and resolves all known bugs.

If, for example, you enter a serial number and the correct module information does not appear, you are likely not working with the most recent software.

A newer version will always be able to open the older files (.QDB) without data loss.

The latest version of the System Manager software, along with the user manual and version history, can be found in the knowledge center.

General

  • Safety Regulations

Read the complete manual before installing the module and activating the system.

    CAUTION

    • The device must be installed and commissioned by a qualified electrician in accordance with country-specific regulations.
    • The device must not be opened. The warranty becomes void if the module is opened.

Installation and cabling

  • Installation

Avoid installing this product in the following locations as it may affect the wireless range:

    • Inside a metal electrical cabinet or enclosure.
    • In close proximity to large metal objects.
    • On or near the ground.

    1. Install the receiver according to the local conditions.

Info: The receiver fits into almost all junction boxes.

           2. Connect the power supply and the device being switched according to the wiring diagram.

Attention! Always adhere to electrical regulations.

Once this connection is made, the receiver is in operating mode. The LED is currently OFF.

          3. Follow the instructions in System Manager III to pair this receiver with a QWI/EW module.

  • Power Supply

CAUTION: DISCONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE MODULE BEFORE WORKING ON THE MODULE!

    230V AC / 50 Hz

  • Troubleshooting

If the receiver does not respond to this module:

    • Check whether the wireless connection in the installation is not disrupted between this module and the QWI/EW.
    • Check the configuration of the QWI/EW and whether the link with this module is still active.
    • Ensure that other wireless devices operating at the same frequency or nearby are not interfering with the operation of this product.

If the module shows undesirable behavior:

    • The module switches on or off at an incorrect time.
    • The relay is activated briefly and then automatically deactivates.
    • The module does not respond to any operation, despite a confirmed good reception between the QWI/EW and this module.

Then be sure to reset the module and re-link it to the QWI/EW using System Manager III.

  • Reset

If the module is linked with the QWI/EW and you wish to erase this connection, follow these steps to reset the module:

    1. Hold the programming button until the LED flashes quickly (more than 1.6 seconds). The delete mode is now activated.
    2. Hold the programming button again for more than 1.6 seconds. Once the module is reset, the LED will light up for 4 seconds and then flash quickly again.
    3. Press the programming button briefly (< 1.6 seconds) to return to normal operation.

For each wireless module it is important that it is enrolled to the gateway (QWI/EW)
An I/O module receives a code from the QWI/EW, an input module sends its code to the QWI/EW.

When you click on “Assign new code”, you will be asked to put the module in programming mode and then click on OK:

When OK is pressed, the QWE-REL01 is assigned a transmission code by the QWI/EW. The module may now return from programming mode.

You can do this by briefly pressing the programming button on the module 3 more times. The programming LED will stop flashing.

By using the “On”, “Off” buttons you can perform a first test to check if the code has been programmed correctly. To test this new module via the qbus I/O’s, it is important that the data is first sent to the controller via the normal way (red upload arrow).
