Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you read an existing configuration?

This is a completely different procedure depending on the type of controller.

    • For the CTD controllers this goes as follows:

In the SMIII via "File" or "Utilities / Setup / SD card", click on "Recover QDB from SD".

After confirmation you choose the name and location where the file should be saved. The zipped QDB file is then read from the SD card of the CTD and saved. With a positive answer to the question "Unzip and open restored QDB?", All data will then be immediately available. If the data you were still working on was not sent or saved, you will first receive a notification to do so.

    • For a CTL controller follow the following procedure:

Because this controller does not yet have a large memory, only limited data can be recovered. Ao the names are abbreviated to 12 characters and serial numbers are not stored anywhere.

The first step is therefore to type in ALL serial numbers via SMII via "File / Modules". These 6-digit serial numbers can be found on every module (DIN rail, switch, detector, etc.). For the SWC0x switches, an extra option was provided to have them send their serial number via “Search for modules”.

When you then click on the "down arrow", you can read all this limited information.

  • Always use the latest software for configuration.

It is always recommended to use the most recent version. This version supports the newest modules and resolves all known bugs.

If, for example, you enter a serial number and the correct module information does not appear, you are likely not working with the most recent software.

A newer version will always be able to open the older files (.QDB) without data loss.

The latest version of the System Manager software, along with the user manual and version history, can be found in the knowledge center.

Installation and wiring

  • Installation

Avoid mounting this product in the following locations as it can affect the wireless range:

    • Inside a metal electrical cabinet or enclosure.
    • In the immediate vicinity of large metal objects.
    • On or near the ground.

    1. Turn off the power.
    2. Connect the power supply and the motor according to the wiring diagram.
    3. Check all connections.
    4. If everything is connected correctly, turn the power back on.
    5. Once the module is powered, this receiver is in operating mode. The LED is OFF at this point.
    6. Follow the instructions in System Manager III to link this receiver to a QWI/EW module.
  • Power Supply

NOTICE: DISCONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE MODULE BEFORE WORKING ON THE MODULE!

    • Turn off the power.
    • Connect the power supply and the motor according to the connection diagram.
    • Check all connections.
    • If everything is connected correctly, turn the power back on.
    • As soon as there is power to the module, this receiver is in operating mode. The LED is OFF at this moment.
    • Follow the instructions in System Manager III to pair this receiver with a QWI/EW module.
  • Troubleshooting

If the receiver does not respond to this module:

    • Check if the wireless connection in the installation is not disrupted between this module and the QWI/EW.
    • Verify the QWI/EW configuration and whether the link with this module is still active.
    • Ensure that other wireless devices operating on the same frequency or in close proximity do not interfere with the functioning of this product.

If the module exhibits undesired behavior:

    • The module turns on or off at the wrong moment.
    • The relay briefly engages and then automatically disengages.
    • The module does not respond to any commands despite a good connection between the QWI/EW and this module.

Then definitely try resetting and re-pairing the module with the QWI/EW using System Manager III.

Note: The QWE-ROL01/230 is equipped with an internal protection mechanism that cuts off power supply to the motor after 150 seconds. Therefore, the operation time cannot exceed 150 seconds.

  • Reset

If the receiver does not respond to this module:

    • Check if the wireless connection in the installation is not disrupted between this module and the QWI/EW.
    • Check the configuration of the QWI/EW and whether the link with this module is still active.
    • Check if other wireless devices with the same frequency or operating nearby are not interfering with the operation of this product.

If the module exhibits undesirable behavior:

    • The module turns on or off at the wrong time.
    • The relay engages briefly and then switches off automatically.
    • The module does not respond to any control input and there is definitely good reception between the QWI/EW and this module.

In such cases, try resetting the module and re-pairing it with the QWI/EW using System Manager III.

Note: The QWE-ROL01/230 is equipped with an internal protection that interrupts the power supply to the motor after 150 seconds. The runtime cannot exceed 150 seconds.

For each wireless module it is important that it is enrolled to the gateway (QWI/EW)
An I/O module receives a code from the QWI/EW, an input module sends its code to the QWI/EW.

When you click on “Assign new code”, you will be asked to put the module in programming mode and then click on OK:

When OK is pressed, the QWE-REL01 is assigned a transmission code by the QWI/EW. The module may now return from programming mode.

You can do this by briefly pressing the programming button on the module 3 more times. The programming LED will stop flashing.

By using the “On”, “Off” buttons you can perform a first test to check if the code has been programmed correctly. To test this new module via the qbus I/O’s, it is important that the data is first sent to the controller via the normal way (red upload arrow).
