Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you read an existing configuration?

This is a completely different procedure depending on the type of controller.

    • For the CTD controllers this goes as follows:

In the SMIII via "File" or "Utilities / Setup / SD card", click on "Recover QDB from SD".

After confirmation you choose the name and location where the file should be saved. The zipped QDB file is then read from the SD card of the CTD and saved. With a positive answer to the question "Unzip and open restored QDB?", All data will then be immediately available. If the data you were still working on was not sent or saved, you will first receive a notification to do so.

    • For a CTL controller follow the following procedure:

Because this controller does not yet have a large memory, only limited data can be recovered. Ao the names are abbreviated to 12 characters and serial numbers are not stored anywhere.

The first step is therefore to type in ALL serial numbers via SMII via "File / Modules". These 6-digit serial numbers can be found on every module (DIN rail, switch, detector, etc.). For the SWC0x switches, an extra option was provided to have them send their serial number via “Search for modules”.

When you then click on the "down arrow", you can read all this limited information.

  • Always use the latest software for configuration.

It is always recommended to use the most recent version. This version supports the newest modules and resolves all known bugs.

If, for example, you enter a serial number and the correct module information does not appear, you are likely not working with the most recent software.

A newer version will always be able to open the older files (.QDB) without data loss.

The latest version of the System Manager software, along with the user manual and version history, can be found in the knowledge center.

Control

Operations via Qbus Control

  • Thermostat
    • Thermostat Economy
    • Thermostat Comfort

Through System Manager, you can assign a Thermostat output to any contact of this module. You can then easily control this thermostat with Qbus Control.

At the bottom, you can choose a regime, which are a number of pre-set temperatures. You can also choose to set the temperature yourself by swiping up/down.

On the left side, you see the measured temperature, on the right side the set one.

With the graph symbol in the top right corner, you can view the historical data.

Technical info for installers

  • Function description

The QWZ-TH is a 230V powered room thermostat that can be linked to the Qbus Wireless Interface with Zigbee protocol (QWI/ZB). Thanks to the connection with the Qbus controller via the QWI/ZB, numerous applications and configurations are possible.

The QWZ-TH room thermostat has the usual functions to control temperature, but can also control the fan speed of a ventilator.

There are 3 relay contacts integrated for the direct control of a 3-speed fan. In addition, there is a potential-free contact for heating and a potential-free contact for cooling.

General

  • Safety Regulations

Read the complete manual before installing and activating the module.

    WARNING

    • The module must be installed, commissioned, and maintained by a certified electrical installer in accordance with the applicable legal regulations of the country.
    • Before working on the QWZ-TH, the power supply must be turned off.
    • The module must be placed in a suitable mounting box with screw fastening.
    • The module must not be opened. The warranty is void if the module is opened!

Installation and wiring

  • Installation

    Installation Advice:

Place the thermostat out of direct sunlight.

Preferably position it on an interior wall

    • Avoid air circulation behind the thermostat.
    • Installation height should be 150cm from floor level
    • Ensure the fastening screws are positioned horizontally
  • Power supply

NOTICE: DISCONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE MODULE BEFORE WORKING ON THE MODULE.

A dual-pole automatic circuit breaker with a maximum rating of 6A must be connected to the 230Vac power supply of the module. Strip approximately 5mm of insulation from the conductor and screw the conductor into the L-N connector.

  • Troubleshooting

If the QWZ-TH does not follow the operations from the Qbus system, or the change via the QWZ-TH is no longer synchronized with the Qbus system:

    • Check the configuration of the QWI/ZB and whether the link with this module is still active. The connection might have been accidentally erased due to incorrect operations on the QWZ-TH thermostat.

If the module does not function:

    • The display does not light up when operated => check the power supply

Likewise the other QWZ modules, this module can be linked in a similar way via the “Address this device” button.

When assigning a Thermostat I/O, it is also important to indicate whether this thermostat should work as a temperature sensor.
When you check the “TH -> CTD” button, this module will transmit its measured temperature to the controller. This option may only be enabled on 1 module!
A Thermostat I/O may be assigned to multiple thermostatic valves. These will all follow the same temperature setting.

Qbus System Manager III Manual Update 04 2025 pdf image 449

As shown in the figure above, “Read Values” displays the measured temperature as well as the current program, the desired temperature and the status of the thermostat outputs.

After confirmation, the 'Remove from network' button will send the command to the wireless network to disconnect the module from the wireless interface. Even if the module could not be reached, the short address will be removed from the list of connected modules so that the I/O on that module can no longer be controlled.
