Common sense at Sport Flanders

Sport Vlaanderen Hall 1

Top performance arises in top infrastructure. Sport Flanders manages sports complexes spread throughout Flanders - from skate parks to swimming pools, from top sports halls to local sports fields. Since 2016, they have been using Qbus to make that infrastructure not only more efficient but also more humane and easier to use. Technology that runs quietly in the background, leaving room for those at the center: the athlete. 'You can feel that Qbus thinks along. They not only provide technology but also long-term support,' says Sport Flanders.

From Ghent to Bruges, from Hofstade to Nieuwpoort: in more and more locations, Qbus provides control that you hardly see – but certainly feel. Lighting, heating, ventilation, access control: everything automatically switches to the rhythm of the building. Is there a sports event? Then the system turns on. Is the space empty? Then it switches back. Smart, efficient, and fully tailored to usage.

In Hofstade, where a former swimming pool was transformed into one of Europe’s most advanced indoor skate parks, Qbus plays a leading role. Everything is digitally controlled and visually displayed: lighting levels, temperature, ventilation. Fully tailored to who enters and what happens. Feel free to call it: a sports hall with common sense.

Qbus Control Sport Vlaanderen

Everything under control

The strength of the system lies in its user-friendliness, with no concessions. Administrators control everything via EQOmmand: a clear, intuitive dashboard where they can draw plans, set zones, and adjust parameters. "We can set, manage, and adjust everything ourselves. You don't need an IT background to work with EQOmmand."

Smart switching is also taking place in Ghent. There, Qbus controls Signify's smart lighting via Modbus, with pre-programmed scenarios for training and matches. "For matches, we can set very specific lighting scenarios. This ensures both an experience and energy savings," says the site manager of the top sports hall at the Watersportbaan. HVAC systems like PRIVA are seamlessly integrated. Air quality, temperature, and energy consumption are optimized as well.

Because we as a team have been retrained by the people from Qbus, we save time and costs. We implement small changes ourselves immediately.

Growing with us

Meanwhile, the team is also growing with the technology. “Because we, as a team, have been retrained by the people from Qbus, we save time and costs. We implement small changes ourselves immediately,” says a spokesperson in Ghent. Installers also notice the difference. “The system grows with the needs of Sport Flanders. This makes it sustainable and future-proof,”.

But perhaps more important than the technology: the collaboration. Qbus thinks along, trains along, grows along. And ensures that Sport Flanders keeps control in its own hands. No black box, but a system that thinks along with you.
