D’Ieteren Mobility’s new facility in Knokke for Lamborghini, Bentley, and Audi exudes pure class.
Installation company Potvliege BV deliberately chose Qbus home automation to make the building smart. The result is an impressive example of building automation that seamlessly meets the client’s high standards, with flexibility and comfort at its core.
The challenge: flexibility for three luxury brands
Building a garage for three different luxury brands, Lamborghini, Bentley, and Audi, comes with specific challenges.
Each brand has its own strict requirements for layout, colors, and operation. In addition, the client was looking for a system that could easily be adapted in the future, without driving up costs every time. Qbus home and building automation offers exactly the right balance of affordability, scalability, and ease of use.
The project owner’s request was clear: provide a flexible installation. The building, which also includes a residential unit on the second floor, had to be intuitive to operate. From mood lighting in the waiting areas to complex access control for after-hours deliveries.
Qbus as the smart link
To meet the project’s complex needs, Potvliege BV installed an extensive Qbus system. Everything was designed to make life more comfortable, safe, and simple for managers and employees.
DALI control and impressive lighting
In total, more than 130 lighting points are controlled via DALI modules. This choice delivered major savings in cabling and makes switching much simpler. The large workshop can be fully transformed at the touch of a button or via the intuitive Qbus Control app.
For example, during the launch of a new car model, when the showroom is converted into an event venue for more than 500 guests, the lighting, heating, and more can be perfectly tailored to the event.
In the workshops, the general lighting is controlled by time clocks, while the night lighting serves as circulation lighting. From the offices and waiting areas, customers have a panoramic view of the workshop. The concept of this car dealership is transparent in the most literal sense: the work area, behind glass, effectively functions as half showroom, making the craftsmanship visible to the customer.
Seamless integration and remote control
A luxury garage often has to deal with exceptional situations. Imagine a towing service arriving after opening hours to deliver a damaged Lamborghini. You do not leave such an exclusive vehicle parked outside. Thanks to the Ubiebox and the Qbus Control app, branch managers can step in remotely. They can open the gate, operate the doors of the night lock, and temporarily disable the alarm, all from their smartphone.
The system also communicates with the intrusion and fire alarm system from Benoit Security. Via pulses from the alarm system, the building automatically activates either the “all-off” mode or a welcoming reception mode.
Ready for the future
The installation is fully prepared for further growth. Underground conduits with spacious pull boxes have been provided throughout the site. This not only makes it possible to pull heavy cabling for future charging stations, but also leaves room for piping for geothermal energy, compressed air, and air conditioning.
As soon as the solar panels are installed on the roof and the ten Alfen charging stations on the site are active, the Qbus system can be further expanded with Qbus charging plaza control. This will make smart charging based on available solar energy incredibly easy in the future. At Qbus, we continue to innovate, and this project proves how effortlessly a building can evolve along with tomorrow’s needs.
