ROL01/DEC

Decentralized roller shutter module

  • Decentralized shutter module suitable for switching one motor up to 3.5A
  • Equipped with 2 potential-free inputs for connections
  • Fits easily into standard flush-mounted boxes
  • Each input has a corresponding LED output for direct LED feedback.

The decentralized ROL01 module draws power from the bus and can easily be installed near the motor. The ROL01 module also has two onboard inputs (with two LED outputs) through which push buttons (with LED feedback), window, door, and other contacts can be connected.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When uploading the data, a module always displays Err.255 (Module not found)

If Err.255 appears during the programming or verification of a module, this can have several causes:

First, verify whether the serial number was correctly entered as shown on the sticker on the module or its packaging. A serial number always consists of 6 digits or 10 hexadecimal characters (e.g., 0006B01ADE), with the first 4 determining the module type.

Conduct a test through “Utilities/Communication Check”. Enter the last 6 digits of the serial number here and click on “Start Module Test”. If communication with this module is perfect, you should see a nice flat line at 100%. If you see a flat low line, there is no communication. If the line is pulsed, communication is poor. Check whether the bus voltage (+/- 14V) is still correctly reaching the module or check the wiring. Try communicating with the module directly at the controller with 2 short bus wires (without any other connected module) before returning it via our RMA procedure.

Several modules can transmit their serial number:

    • All SWC variants can be searched via “File/Modules/Search for modules”. After clicking “Start search”, all connected switches will blink blue. Pressing any key on the switch will transmit its serial number.
    • All modules with a 10-character serial number can be read via “Utilities/Communication Check” if 1 and only 1 module of this new type is connected to the bus, by entering “FFFFFF” as a serial number.
  • How do you check if a DIN-Rail module is still functioning?

All recent DIN-rail modules are equipped with a fuse and status LED(s).

First, check if the upper PWR LED is still lit (green). If not, check the fuse and measure the power supply voltage. If both the fuse and the power supply voltage are correct, then the module power supply is defective and should be repaired or replaced.

First, always try a full reset: simultaneously disconnect both power and bus at the same time, then reconnect power (and bus if applicable).

The lower PWR will light up when the bus is correctly connected. In Stand-Alone mode, this PWR LED will remain OFF. The red status LED will briefly light up or blink when the module starts. However, if it continues to light up or blink, the firmware may be corrupted. Firmware can be updated via the SMIII under “Tools/Setup/Software/Modules: Firmware Upgrade”.

For end users, the installer is the first point of contact. They are familiar with the most common errors and will contact Qbus support for unknown issues.

If the module needs to be repaired or replaced, use our RMA procedure to return a module.

  • Switching of an output via one or more detectors AND via a push button.

Since a detector will always communicate the exact status of its detection to the configured output, it is not possible to use this same output on multiple modules.

If you want to switch an output via a detector AND via a push button, you must link them through a logic expression.

    For example:

    IF ( #Hall Detector1 = On

        OR #Hall Detector2 = On

OR _Hall Push Button = On )

THEN Hall Lamp = On ELSE = Off

Technical info for installers

  • Function description

The maximum cable length between the inputs of the ROL01 and the contacts connected to it is 20 meters. The input contacts can be used to directly control the shutter motor or can send a command to another output on the bus. Via the Qbus software, these inputs can be defined with the following settings: - Push button = used when a push button is connected to the input (is normally open, only activates a status when briefly pressed – e.g., a doorbell). - Normally open = contact that is open when inactive. - Normally closed = contact that is closed when inactive. - Switch = used when a switch (on – off) is connected to the input. Each module has a unique serial number (6 digits). This serial number is used to program the module via the Qbus software. All programming is stored in the module's non-volatile memory. If the module is restarted after a power failure, the outputs will return to their last position. The power supply for the contacts must be protected with a 6A fuse.

General

  • Safety regulations

Read the full manual before installing the module and activating the system.

     ATTENTION

    • The module must be installed, started, and maintained by a certified electrical installer in accordance with the applicable legal regulations of the country.
    • Never connect AC or DC power to a potential-free input of a ROL01. This will damage the input module.

Installation and wiring

  • Installation

During the installation of a ROL01, we recommend providing two built-in boxes: one for the installation of the ROL01 and the connection to the circuits, and the other for connecting the inputs (push buttons). This will enhance installation convenience.

  • Power supply

The ROL01 is powered via the bus.

  • Load

Both relays of the ROL01 are already equipped with wires (14 cm). These can be connected with the wires of the circuit to be controlled using a clamp.

  • Inputs

With the ROL01, a separate multicable (5-colored cable of 29 cm on connector) is provided that must be connected to the module's input connector.

Low-current LEDs (2mA without series resistor – available from Qbus) can be connected to the LED outputs. Through the Qbus System Manager, it can be selected whether the LEDs display the status of the input or the relay.

The cable that connects the contacts to the inputs should not be longer than 20 meters.

When installing an ROL01, we recommend providing two junction boxes; one for the installation of the ROL01 and the connection to the circuits, and the other for the connection of the inputs (push buttons). This will improve installation convenience.

  • Bus connection

It is recommended to use the Qbus cable or any other cable with a minimum of 2 conductors of 1mm² as the bus cable. The green shielded EIB cable can also be used if the conductors are paired to achieve a minimum cross-section of 2 x 1mm².
