Smart motion and light sensor - surface-mounted
- Detects motion and light level.
- Suitable for switching and dimming lighting.
- Supports bistable and dimmer outputs.
- Suitable for both recessed and surface ceiling mounting.
- Also available in white and black
The smart motion and light sensor (SENMoLi) is a bus-controlled and powered sensor. With its variants for both built-in and surface mounting, it is highly suitable for ceiling installation in residential projects such as toilets or living spaces. The SENMoLi is available in white (SENMOLI/TW) or black (SENMOLI/TB) finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do you read an existing configuration?
This is a completely different procedure depending on the type of controller.
- For the CTD controllers this goes as follows:
In the SMIII via "File" or "Utilities / Setup / SD card", click on "Recover QDB from SD".
After confirmation you choose the name and location where the file should be saved. The zipped QDB file is then read from the SD card of the CTD and saved. With a positive answer to the question "Unzip and open restored QDB?", All data will then be immediately available. If the data you were still working on was not sent or saved, you will first receive a notification to do so.
- For a CTL controller follow the following procedure:
Because this controller does not yet have a large memory, only limited data can be recovered. Ao the names are abbreviated to 12 characters and serial numbers are not stored anywhere.
The first step is therefore to type in ALL serial numbers via SMII via "File / Modules". These 6-digit serial numbers can be found on every module (DIN rail, switch, detector, etc.). For the SWC0x switches, an extra option was provided to have them send their serial number via “Search for modules”.
When you then click on the "down arrow", you can read all this limited information.
-
Always use the latest software for configuration.
It is always recommended to use the most recent version. This version supports the newest modules and resolves all known bugs.
If, for example, you enter a serial number and the correct module information does not appear, you are likely not working with the most recent software.
A newer version will always be able to open the older files (.QDB) without data loss.
The latest version of the System Manager software, along with the user manual and version history, can be found in the knowledge center.

Function description
The SENMoLi is a discrete, flat, white, round, motion sensor equipped with 2 sensors that detect motion and light intensity (lux). Additionally, you can utilize a night function where the dimmed light circuit turns on at a lower intensity. This day clock function can be activated via clock times, logic, or regular operation. This sensor can be directly connected to the two-wire Qbus bus using the included flexible connection cable. Configuration is done via System Manager III. The SENMoLi, like every Qbus module, has a unique serial number that is entered during configuration in the System Manager III configuration software. The programmed data remains internally stored in permanent memory. This module can receive firmware updates via the Qbus bus. The sensor can directly control various I/Os based on these sensor values: - Motion: The sensitivity has two levels. There is an adjustable threshold for the size of motion to activate the I/O via a "First Trigger," and to maintain the I/O, a lower volume of motion is adjustable with a "Hold Trigger." The after-run time after motion has ceased, and the I/O needs to be switched off, is adjustable between 2 seconds and 127 minutes. You can visually test the current motion detection using a scan function. Once the motion detection falls below the yellow line (hold), the after-run time starts. - Lux: Threshold >= or <= adjustable between 0 and 3000lux The I/O to be controlled can be of the Bistable or Dimmer type. The sensor can, therefore, directly control a dimmer based on lux measurement and motion detection. A blue indicator LED is provided for the display of motion detection and/or darkness.

Safety regulations
Read the full manual before installing and activating the module.
CAUTION
- The module must be installed, commissioned, and maintained by a certified electrical installer in accordance with the legal requirements of the country.
- The bus power must be turned off before working on the SENMoLi.
- Never connect external voltages (e.g., 230Vac) to the Qbus bus! This will cause irreversible damage to the modules.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- The module must not be opened. The warranty is void if the module is opened!
Installation and wiring
-
Installation
In the assembly version, you first attach the stand with cable entry, then make the connection and click the sensor onto the stand.
-
Power supply
The module is powered via the bus.
-
BUS connection
It is recommended to use the Qbus cable or any other cable with a minimum of 2 conductors of 1mm² as the bus cable. The green shielded EIB cable can also be used if the conductors are paired to achieve a minimum cross-section of 2 x 1mm².
Each modules has an unique serial number. By this number the System Manager recognizes the modules.
This is completely explained in our knowledge center.
The SENMoLi is the successor to the SEN01M that can trigger movement and light level and the SENMax combines this with the additional sensors of the AIR01CHT (Air quality, temperature and humidity).
After entering the serial number of a SENMoLi module, the following screen will appear:
You must set the correct housing for this module. The diffuser used causes a difference in the light measurement.
After selection, the following screen will appear:
By setting one or more triggers you can determine which I/O should be activated for which event.
In contrast to older detectors, such an I/O cannot only be of the bistable type, but can also be of the dimmer type.
An example of switching on the lighting in the hall when there is movement when it is sufficiently dark.
The selected trigger settings are always processed with an AND function. The I/O “Hall” will therefore turn on when more movement is detected than the set activation trigger AND the light level is less than 20lx. After this I/O has been activated, the light measurement will no longer be taken into account. Only when no more movement is detected less than the 'maintenance trigger' and longer than the 'extension', the I/O will be switched off.
The current measured light value is displayed in yellow via the “Read mode” button.
The movement is visualized via the 'Scan' button:
If the sensor is too sensitive, the 'activation trigger' (green line) can be set larger. The I/O will therefore only switch on if movement greater than the set value is measured.
If the movement remains below the yellow line for longer than the 'extension' time, the I/O will turn off.
You can change a trigger setting between <= and >= by double-clicking on it.
In the “Status LED trigger” box you can set when the built-in LED should flash.
E.g. only “Light” checked and 2s the LED will flash every 2 seconds when insufficient light is detected.
These settings are always combined with an AND function.
Setting the Lux I/O allows you to set up a universal I/O that displays the measured light value. This I/O has a resolution of 0.1 lx and a maximum value of 30 klx.
The “Overrule LDR” should be used when multiple detectors in the same room control the same light circuit. This I/O must then be set to the controlled lighting.
When 'Overrule' is checked in a trigger setting and this I/O is enabled, the trigger will accept the light measurement test as approved.
