SENMaxPre/W

Smart sensor for motion, light, and air quality

Execution: Inbouw
  • Combines 5 sensors in one: prensence detection, light, CO₂, humidity, and temperature measurement.
  • Controls lighting, ventilation, and heating based on the data.
  • Suitable for recessed and surface ceiling mounting.
  • Improved mounting springs for fast and easy installation
  • Suitable for multiple drilling diameters

The SENMaxPre is a bus-controlled and powered all-in-one sensor with presence, light, CO2, humidity, and temperature measurement. This makes the sensor highly versatile. Think of large commercial and residential projects like doctor's offices, schools, and office buildings where CO2 measurements and/or presence detection are required. This sensor is available in both built-in and surface-mounted versions (to be combined with SENTube).

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you read an existing configuration?

This is a completely different procedure depending on the type of controller.

    • For the CTD controllers this goes as follows:

In the SMIII via "File" or "Utilities / Setup / SD card", click on "Recover QDB from SD".

After confirmation you choose the name and location where the file should be saved. The zipped QDB file is then read from the SD card of the CTD and saved. With a positive answer to the question "Unzip and open restored QDB?", All data will then be immediately available. If the data you were still working on was not sent or saved, you will first receive a notification to do so.

    • For a CTL controller follow the following procedure:

Because this controller does not yet have a large memory, only limited data can be recovered. Ao the names are abbreviated to 12 characters and serial numbers are not stored anywhere.

The first step is therefore to type in ALL serial numbers via SMII via "File / Modules". These 6-digit serial numbers can be found on every module (DIN rail, switch, detector, etc.). For the SWC0x switches, an extra option was provided to have them send their serial number via “Search for modules”.

When you then click on the "down arrow", you can read all this limited information.

  • Always use the latest software for configuration.

It is always recommended to use the most recent version. This version supports the newest modules and resolves all known bugs.

If, for example, you enter a serial number and the correct module information does not appear, you are likely not working with the most recent software.

A newer version will always be able to open the older files (.QDB) without data loss.

The latest version of the System Manager software, along with the user manual and version history, can be found in the knowledge center.

Technical info for installers

  • Function description

The SENMaxPre is a discrete flat white round multifunctional sensor that contains 5 sensors within a single compact unit. SENMaxPre detects presence, light intensity (lux), humidity (RH%), CO2 (ppm), and temperature (°C). This makes the sensor highly versatile. Air quality is measured through openings in the surface. Utilizing smart controlled ventilation and heating is necessary to create a healthy indoor climate and efficiently manage energy use. SENMaxPre is suitable for applications in both HVAC and light control, as well as other applications related to the available sensors.

The product is suitable for indoor ceiling mounting. This sensor can be directly connected to the Qbus two-wire bus via the supplied flexible connecting cable. Configuration is performed via System Manager III.

The SENMaxPre, like every Qbus module, has a unique serial number (Prefix 0059) that is entered during configuration in the configuration software System Manager III. All programmed data is stored internally in permanent memory. This module can receive firmware updates via the Qbus bus.

The sensor can control various I/Os based on the 5 different sensor values:

    • Temperature: Range from -10°C to +60°C. Creating an HVAC mode or thermostat mode is not required.
    • Presence detection: Sensitivity has two levels. A threshold can be set for sensitivity of presence detection to activate the I/O via an “Activation trigger”. To maintain the I/O, a lower threshold can be set for presence with a “Maintain trigger”. After presence is no longer detected, a run-on time can be set between 2 seconds and 127 minutes. After this run-on time, the linked I/O is turned off.
Through a scan function, the current presence detection can be visually tested. Once the presence detection goes below the yellow line (maintain), the run-on time starts.
    • Lux: Threshold >= or <= adjustable between 0 and 3000lux
    • CO2: Threshold >= or <= adjustable between 400-2000ppm
    • RH%: Threshold >= or <= adjustable between 0%-95%

The controlled I/O can be of the type Bistable or Dimmer. Thus, the sensor can directly control a dimmer based on lux measurement and presence detection. Additionally, a night function allows the dimmed light circuit to turn on at a lower intensity. This day clock function can be activated via clock times, logic, or regular operation.

A blue indicator LED is provided for displaying presence detection.

General

  • Safety regulations

Read the full manual before installing and activating the module.

    ATTENTION

    • The module must be installed, started, and maintained by a certified electrical installer in accordance with the applicable legal regulations of the country.
    • Before working on the SENMax, the bus power must be turned off.
    • Never connect external voltages (e.g., 230Vac) to the Qbus bus! This will cause irreversible damage to the modules.
    • Keep out of reach of children.
    • The module must not be opened. The warranty is void if the module is opened!

Installation and wiring

  • Installation

Provide a round opening of 40mm for the built-in version. Connect the supplied cable to the bus cable. Then push the connections deep enough, so the sensor has enough free space. Next, without applying great force, insert the sensor into a 40mm opening. Do not press on the sensor surface. Consider the orientation of the barbs to place the detection field in the desired position.

For the Stand-Alone version, first mount the base with cable routing, then connect and click the sensor onto the base.

  • Power supply

The module is powered via the bus.

  • BUS connection

It is recommended to use the Qbus cable or any other cable with a minimum of 2 conductors of 1mm² as the bus cable. The green shielded EIB cable can also be used if the conductors are paired to achieve a minimum cross-section of 2 x 1mm².

Via the SMIII, you can configure each module via the bus. This is clarified in our knowledge center.

The SENMaxPre, in addition to the same functionality as the SENPreLi , also includes measurements of temperature, air quality, relative humidity, and dew point.

The SENMaxPre can switch up to a maximum of 8 I/Os on and off.

For the triggers, the additional values of temperature, CO2, and relative humidity can be set as extra parameters.

These can also be used without setting an I/O in HVAC or TH.

A checked box means that this trigger must be on, an unchecked box means that this trigger should not be on, and NO box means that this trigger is not tested. For example, with only an unchecked box for presence, the IO will turn ON when there is NO presence.

If you still wish to use the full functionality of the HVAC or thermostat output, you can configure it in the second tab.
