Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do you read an existing configuration?
This is a completely different procedure depending on the type of controller.
- For the CTD controllers this goes as follows:
In the SMIII via "File" or "Utilities / Setup / SD card", click on "Recover QDB from SD".
After confirmation you choose the name and location where the file should be saved. The zipped QDB file is then read from the SD card of the CTD and saved. With a positive answer to the question "Unzip and open restored QDB?", All data will then be immediately available. If the data you were still working on was not sent or saved, you will first receive a notification to do so.
- For a CTL controller follow the following procedure:
Because this controller does not yet have a large memory, only limited data can be recovered. Ao the names are abbreviated to 12 characters and serial numbers are not stored anywhere.
The first step is therefore to type in ALL serial numbers via SMII via "File / Modules". These 6-digit serial numbers can be found on every module (DIN rail, switch, detector, etc.). For the SWC0x switches, an extra option was provided to have them send their serial number via “Search for modules”.
When you then click on the "down arrow", you can read all this limited information.
-
Always use the latest software for configuration.
It is always recommended to use the most recent version. This version supports the newest modules and resolves all known bugs.
If, for example, you enter a serial number and the correct module information does not appear, you are likely not working with the most recent software.
A newer version will always be able to open the older files (.QDB) without data loss.
The latest version of the System Manager software, along with the user manual and version history, can be found in the knowledge center.

Installation and wiring

Installation
Attention! Ensure there is no interference with the wireless connection. Do not install the module in a distribution box, a metal enclosure, in direct proximity to large metal objects, on or near the floor.
Plug the QWE PP01_BE into a suitable power outlet.
-
Commissioning
1) Plug the QWE PP01_BE into a suitable power outlet.
Attention! Ensure there is no interference with the wireless connection. Do not install the module in a distribution box, in a metal enclosure, in close proximity to large metal objects, on, or near the floor.
2) Follow the instructions in System Manager III to pair the module with the QWI/EW module. To place the module in learning mode, press the P button briefly. The module will then be in learning mode for approximately 30 seconds. The LED should blink at a uniform repeated rate.
Note! If the LED does not blink at a uniform rate, repeatedly press the P button until the LED blinks at a uniform rate.
-
Resetting the module
- Hold the P-button until the LED flashes rapidly.
- Hold the P-button again until the LED lights up. The module is now reset and will return to normal operational mode after 4 seconds.
-
Troubleshooting
If the module shows unwanted operation:
- The module switches on or off at an incorrect moment.
- The relay engages for a short time and then automatically disengages.
- The module does not respond to any command and there is certainly good reception between QWI/EW and this module.
Then definitely try to reset the module and reconnect it to the QWI/EW using System Manager III.
Also check the following aspects:
- Check if the wireless connection in the installation is not disrupted between this module and the QWI/EW.
- Check the configuration of the QWI/EW and whether the link with this module is still active.
- Check if other wireless devices operating at the same frequency or in the immediate vicinity are interfering with the operation of this product.
For each wireless module it is important that it is enrolled to the gateway (QWI/EW)
An I/O module receives a code from the QWI/EW, an input module sends its code to the QWI/EW.
When you briefly press the push button, it will send its transmission code and store it in a free place in the QWI. The transmission code is displayed and the key pressed is displayed in green.
