Various styles of JUNG buttons and cover frames (AS500, A, CD500, LS), and 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-button finishing sets suit this module. The EQOmmand software runs on a PC and enables the intuitive, user-friendly control and visualisation of a Qbus installation. The customer can easily create ground maps, allocate outputs to specific rooms, etc. Standard IP-cameras can also be easily connected to the EQOmmand. 

Via the Eco Dashboard-tab in EQOmmand all the outputs can be viewed and compared as diagrams or a meter. Electricity, water, gas, etc. meters can also be viewed. To activate EQOmmand a oneoff EQOmmand licence must be purchased. Discover all the information around EQOmmand on our support page.

As a detector will always pass on the exact status of its detection to the configured output, it is not possible to use this same output on multiple modules.

If you wish to switch an output via a detector AND via a push button, then you must link this via a logic expression

How to use the astronomical day clock?

All CTD controllers have a built-in annual calendar with the daily times of sunrise and sunset. To be able to use this, it is sufficient to assign a bistable output via the setup screen and to select the location that is closest to the installation.

!! After you have submitted the changes via the Red upload arrow, it is important to restart the CTD to load the current times !!!

The bus communication LED continues to burn

The "Bus" LED on the CTD shows when there is bus activity. A short heartbeat is shown every 5 seconds. When a module 'wakes up' the bus, the LED will be red. But it must turn off after a few seconds. However, if this "Bus" LED is continuously lit, this is probably due to a contradictory configuration or caused by a (broken) module on the bus.
In order to eliminate this last option, simply disconnect all bus wires and check the led...
A possible contradictory configuration can be: An input that is set as "Normally open" or "Normally closed" can not be forced. The same applies to an output that is connected to a detector. Or conflicting logic was used... This continuous bus communication must certainly be remedied.

How does Luqas work?

Luqas manages energy flows in the residence. It controls the large electrical consumers (heat pump, boilers, charging station) based on your current energy usage. Thanks to the convenient energy slider, you decide what you want to consume. Luqas notifies you in case of overuse or high peaks* and through the Qbus Control app, you have a simple overview of your energy consumption and yield. Luqas gives you back control over your energy bill.

Luqas is connected to the digital meter and knows how much electricity is currently being purchased or injected. Based on that information, Luqas will control a heat pump (via smart grid) or two electric boilers (via 2 relay contacts) and 2 charging stations. Luqas ensures that:

 

  • When there is a surplus of energy generated via the solar panels, this energy is buffered by increasing the temperature of the heat pump / boilers (= Autoconsumption).
  • If consumption is too high, the charging station and/or the heat pump/boilers are turned down for a certain time.

If, after this automatic control of the connected high consumers, too much electricity is still being used, potentially exceeding your quarter-hour peak, Luqas sends you a message* so that you can intervene yourself if desired (lowering the stove, delaying the dishwasher or washing machine, etc.). Avoiding these peaks in consumption is described as "peak-shaving".

Thanks to 3 convenient subscriptions, you determine how much control you have over your energy. Choose basic functions with Luqas View or opt for more control with Luqas Control. Do you have a dynamic tariff? Then go for Luqas Dynamic Control and choose the time when you want to consume energy.

 

My computer does not get connected through USB.

Normally when the Qbus System Manager III SW is installed, the USB driver is installed automatically, but if this is not the case your computer will tell you, once you connect to the controller, that it is having trouble installing the USB device. When this happens please click on that message and select to install the driver from a list or specific location (search: C:\Program Files (x86)\Qbus\CTD USB driver if you have left the program to install in the default location and if not select the location were you have installed the program and this specific folder) . This way the system should connect properly.

Always use the latest software for configuration.

It is always advisable to use the most recent version. The latest modules are always supported in this and all known bugs were also resolved.

For example, if you enter a serial number and the correct module info does not appear, then you will probably not work with the most recent software.

A newer version will always be able to open the older files (.QDB), without data loss.

How do you check whether a DIN-Rail module still works?

All recent DIN rail modules are equipped with a fuse and status LED(s)

In the first place, it must be checked whether the upper PWR LED is still lit (green). If this is not the case, check the fuse and check the supply voltage. If both fuse and supply voltage are correct, then the module power supply is defective and must be repaired or replaced.

Be sure to try a complete reset first: interrupt both the voltage and bus simultaneously, then reconnect voltage (and possibly bus).

Use our RMA procedure to return a module

The lower PWR will light when the bus is connected correctly. In stand-alone mode, this PWR LED, therefore, remains OFF. The red status LED will briefly light up or flash when the module is started. But if it remains lit or flashing, the firmware may be corrupted. Updating the firmware can be done via the SMIII via “Utilities / Setup / Software / Modules: Firmware Upgrade”

How do I operate Luqas?

Qbus Control App - Luqas View, Luqas Control, Luqas Dynamic Control

 

All controls of the Luqas module are managed within the Qbus Control app. The Qbus Control app is available on Android and iOS operating systems.

 

Within the app, you can create a personal energy dashboard. Depending on the chosen subscription (Luqas View, Luqas Control, Luqas Dynamic Control), you'll have access to various functions and controls.

 

With the free subscription, Luqas View, you have access to the following basic functions:

  • Energy slider
  • Visual tracking of energy consumption and yield
  • Automatic control of two charging points
  • Monitoring of heat pumps or heat pump boilers
  • Consumption data over 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days.

Luqas View provides users with basic control over their energy. Thanks to the energy slider, you can easily automate the control of your high-consumption devices, keeping your energy usage in check.

Select your desired energy level using a simple energy slider. On the energy slider, you can set your maximum desired consumption based on your home's specific situation (presence of a heat pump or charging station, your standard usage, etc.)

Sun Only

Charge the car solely using solar energy. The charging process begins only when sufficient solar energy is available.

 

Automatic

The car is charged with a pre-set number of kilometers within a specific period.

The amount of energy charged is economically determined, taking into account:

  • The settings of the energy slider.
  • The set tariff: single, dual, or dynamic tariff.

These new charging modes offer a flexible and advanced approach for a personalized and efficient charging process, tailored to diverse needs and situations.

 

 

In addition to the 3 new charging modes, you can now create your own personalized charging profile for energy-efficient and automatic charging of your car.

 

How does it work? Simply put: your vehicle is charged with a pre-set number of kilometers within a certain period, entirely tailored to your specific needs. The energy charged is determined as efficiently as possible based on two crucial factors:

  • The set energy slider.
  • The set tariff: single, dual, or dynamic tariff.

 

When you connect your vehicle to the charging station, it automatically selects your unique charging profile and starts charging according to your preferences. You can easily change your charging profile via a notification on your smartphone.

 

 
 

How do you read an existing configuration?

This is a completely different procedure depending on the type of controller.

 

  • For the CTD controllers this goes as follows:

In the SMIII via "File" or "Utilities / Setup / SD card", click on "Recover QDB from SD".

After confirmation you choose the name and location where the file should be saved. The zipped QDB file is then read from the SD card of the CTD and saved. With a positive answer to the question "Unzip and open restored QDB?", All data will then be immediately available. If the data you were still working on was not sent or saved, you will first receive a notification to do so.

 

  • For a CTL controller follow the following procedure:

Because this controller does not yet have a large memory, only limited data can be recovered. Ao the names are abbreviated to 12 characters and serial numbers are not stored anywhere.

The first step is therefore to type in ALL serial numbers via SMII via "File / Modules". These 6-digit serial numbers can be found on every module (DIN rail, switch, detector, etc.). For the SWC0x switches, an extra option was provided to have them send their serial number via “Search for modules”.

When you then click on the "down arrow", you can read all this limited information.

When uploading the data, a module always displays Err.255 (Module not found)

If Err.255 appears when programming or verifying a module, this can have various causes:

First of all check whether the serial number has been typed correctly as shown on the sticker on the module or on the box. A serial number always consists of 6 digits or 10 hexadecimal characters (eg 0006B01ADE), the first 4 of which determine the module type.

 

Perform a test via "Utilities / Communication Check". Enter the last 6 digits of the serial number here and click on “Start Module Test”. With perfect communication with this module you have to see a nice flat line at 100%. If you see a flat low line, then there is never communication. If the line is pulsed, then there is poor communication. Then check whether the bus voltage (+/- 14V) is still correctly applied to the module or check the cabling. Try communicating with the module directly to the controller with 2 short bus wires (without any other connected modules) before sending it back via our RMA procedure.

 

A number of modules can send out their serial number:

  • All SWC variants can be searched via "File / Modules / Search for modules". After clicking on "Start search", all connected switches will flash blue. When pressing any key on the switch, it will send its serial number.
  • All modules with a serial number with 10 characters can be read via “Utilities / Communication Check” if 1 and only 1 module of this new type is connected to the bus, by entering “FFFFFF” as the serial number.

Can Luqas be installed in any home?

Luqas can be installed in any home with a digital meter. After activating the P1 port, the Luqas module can measure all energy flows.

How much does the Luqas module cost?

Luqas anticipates advantageous energy prices and enables optimal energy management by considering predicted consumption behaviors, weather forecasts, and future prices, all aimed at finding the best balance between cost and comfort.

How much can I save with Luqas?

With Luqas, you save in various ways:

 

  1. Autoconsumption: Luqas ensures that the generated energy is effectively consumed or stored in the home. Storing can be achieved, for example, by raising the temperature of the warm water tank of the heat pump or the boiler.
  2. Peak-shaving: Due to the new electricity bill calculation, you are penalized if you operate too many devices simultaneously, causing peaks in electricity consumption. 1 kWh costs you 45 euros annually excluding VAT. Luqas will avoid your peaks by automatically slowing down the electric car's charging and by reducing the output of the heat pump or boilers when you consume too much. And if that's not enough, Luqas will send you a message* if you're close to exceeding your peak consumption, so you can intervene if desired.
  3. The amount you save depends on the major consumers in your home. If you don't have a heat pump or charging station, savings are only based on avoiding peak loads (peak-shaving). Do I need to have smart kitchen appliances to work with Luqas?

No. Luqas automatically controls the large consumers (charging station, heat pump, electric boilers). These represent about 70% of the total consumption in the home.

 

If this automatic control is not enough to avoid too high quarterly peaks or too high general consumption, Luqas sends a message, and you can intervene yourself by switching off other active household appliances or putting them on a lower setting. This way, you stay in control of the dishwasher, steam oven, dryer, etc.

Can't I just switch sockets on and off?

By switching sockets on and off, you cannot smart steer a charging station or heat pump. Smart steering means you can adjust the power to the charging station, not just switch it on or off. Ditto regarding the heat pump, you need to be able to do more than switch it on or off.

 

By adding extra Qbus modules in the installation, additional savings can be realised - not only by smart control of appliances via socket outlets but also control of lighting, heating, cooling, ventilation, etc.

Will Luqas continue to work in the future? Surely the market will change a lot?

Indeed, we predict that the market will continue to evolve. Adding batteries to the installation enables additional energy storage. Through Vehicle-to-Grid technology, the electric vehicle will also serve as a battery for the home.

 

The advantage of Luqas is its continuous expandability, allowing for the addition of new functionalities (via Luqas' connection with the QbusControl App). At the same time, Luqas will always remain compatible with the existing systems it controls. This is also the case with all other modules developed by Qbus since 1999 - we ensure that they remain continuously expandable and compatible.

 

Am I entitled to a premium with Luqas?

If a heat pump or an electric boiler is controlled by Luqas, you are also entitled to the Electric Heat Control premium (SEW premium), where half of the purchase plus installation cost up to a maximum of €400 is refunded (application and installation is valid between 1/01/2023 and 31/12/2023). This applies to the Luqas as well as the rest of the Qbus products placed in the installation. (Luqas is an obligation though). Luqas view

Luqas View is the free subscription included with the purchase of the Luqas module.

Luqas View combines the Luqas module with the View app and offers users the following basic functions:

 

  • Real-time visual tracking of energy consumption and usage.
  • Monitoring the status of connected devices such as heat pumps, heat pump boilers, and charging stations.
  • Detailed consumption data for 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days.
  • Consumption settings through the energy slider.
  • Automatic control of up to two charging points.

With Luqas View, the user has basic control over their energy. Thanks to the energy slider, you can easily control your major consumers automatically and thus keep your energy consumption under control.

 

 

Luqas Control

Luqas Control is a paid subscription that combines the Luqas module with the Qbus Control App. In addition to the basic functions, this subscription offers extra advanced features for additional savings such as:

 

  • 3 new charging modes: Auto, Sun Only, and Manual.
  • Dynamic control of two charging points.
  • Manual settings for the heat pump.
  • Push notifications for peak consumption or high injection.
  • Monthly energy insights with personalized tips.
  • Predictive quarter-hour peaks allowing timely intervention.

Luqas Control allows users to exercise comprehensive control over their energy, enabling extra savings on your energy bill. Not only can you automatically control your major consumers but also intervene manually. Set up your own day and night schedule. Combined with notifications and personalized energy insights, the user has complete control over their energy.

 

Upon purchase of the Luqas module, a free trial period of Luqas Control for 6 months is included. After this period, you can purchase Luqas Control as a lifetime subscription for €179.99 (incl. VAT) or renew annually for only €29.99 (incl. VAT).

  • Prediction of your energy consumption for optimal management of your energy usage.

The Luqas Dynamic Control subscription is available for €49.99 per year (including VAT), only available in combination with the Luqas Control App subscription.

Manual

Sun Only

Recharge the car only using solar energy. The charging process starts only when a sufficient amount of solar energy is available.

 

Automatisch

The car is charged with a pre-set number of kilometers within a specific period.

The amount of charged energy is economically determined, considering:

  • The settings of the energy slider.
  • The set tariff: single, double, or dynamic tariff.

These new charging modes offer a flexible and advanced approach for a personalized and efficient charging process, suitable for various needs and situations.

Create your own personal charging profile for energy-efficient and automatic charging of your vehicle.

 

Set your individual preferences and charge your vehicle in an ecological and cost-effective manner, without even needing to open the app. How does it work?

 

Simply put, your vehicle is charged with a pre-set number of kilometers within a certain period of time, completely tailored to your specific needs. The charged energy is determined as efficiently as possible based on two crucial factors:

  • The set energy slider
  • The set rate: single, double, or dynamic rate

When connecting your vehicle to the charging station, it automatically selects your unique charging profile and starts charging according to your preferences. You can easily modify your charging profile via a notification on your smartphone.

Is it possible to make changes to the configuration after completing the Luqas wizard?

Yes, after setting up the Luqas wizard, it is possible to make changes to the configuration. The installer has the ability to make remote adjustments via the Luqas wizard. This can be done by:

 

Within the Qbus Control application, clicking on "Settings" on the device and scrolling all the way down.

 

 

Under "Configuration," you have two options to grant the installer access to the Luqas wizard.

  • The installer can scan the QR code to gain direct access to the wizard.
  • You can forward a link to the installer's email address. This link is valid for 12 hours.

After 12 hours, the link expires and a new link must be sent. Currently, this feature is only available on the Qbus Control app.
